God of this city!

September 5, 2008

This is a crazy city..yes, very crazy.  Obviously, this is a radical change for us.  New York City is much different than Amarillo, Tx.  I know the Lord will always take care of me and Nikki, but we are still smart.  We don’t go out after dark unless absolutely necessary, and we keep our mouths shut amongst all of this big city chaos.  When we watch the news every night, we hear bad stories of the things happening around here.  Yes, a lot of it happens right here in our borough.  Real stories of things that have happened recently….A series of sexual attacks on women, an elderly man walking another lady home at night was attacked and later died of a heart attack, an 85 yr old woman was attacked and robbed in an elevator in her building, and several hit and runs involving pedestrians.  Wow, that sounds really bad.  But I believe when you have 9 million people in one city…bad things will happen and bad things will overshadow the good things.  Good things do happen in New York and I truly believe God loves this city.  He has planted many Christians here to spread His truth of salvation.  We see God’s people ministering all over the city everyday and we love being a part of it.  New York City has a bad reputation, and most of what is said is true.  Horrible crimes occur daily, but we feel blessed to have been placed here by our Father in Heaven.  My point is that God has a compassionate heart for this place.  God is the God of this city, and He needs strong servants to preach His message of love, grace, mercy, and salvation.

New Blog

September 4, 2008

Well, we are beginning a new journey here. Blogging!! or Weblogging to the layperson.  We think it will be a great way to share with everyone what the Lord is putting on our hearts.  We will be continuing the periodic updates through email as well with a new look and probably as a pdf file so it’s not so large.  We have found that many people’s inbox cannot hold such a large file, so hopefully doing the updates with Adobe will help.  Things are going very well in this city and here at NYSUM.  The Lord is continuing to speak things into our hearts. Just pray that we would have the ears to hear, minds to comprehend, and hearts to understand what He is saying to us.  Please check here often as we will be blogging regularly.
